Students will have a lecture on the following subjects:

I. The Basics of Contemplative Research

1. Identity Processes and Dialogicality of Self - the problem of anamnesis

2. Meditation for social scientists.

3. Contemplation for economists. Towards a social economy based on empathy and compassion.

4. The Problem of Ontological Insecurity. Some Zen Buddhist Inspirations.

Part Two - The applications

5. Standing in the public places (Zenic experiment)

6. Sociological and technological mind of the sociologist. Contemplating technology in qualitative research. (an example of the contemplative research)

7. Experiencing the University (an example of contemplative research)

8. Hatha - yoga in higher education (the teaching through body)

9. Buddhism Zen and qualitative research

Part three - Technicalities

10. Technical aspects of contemplative research (the description of the contemplative methods of research)

Efekty uczenia się: (tylko po angielsku)

Knowledge:

Students should learn and understand the basic concepts of contemplative sociology (K_W09, K_W11, K_W12)>

Skills:

Students know how to do research and how to analyze empirical protocols in the perspective of contemplative sciences. Students know how to use the techniques of contemplative research (K_U01, K_U11, K_U17).

Attitude/Competencies:

Students are able to conduct social research in an emphatic and ethical way, and to cooperate within research team (K_K01, K_K08, K_K11, K_K12)

(tylko po angielsku) During the class, we learn the basic methods of contemplative sociology and make the project on observation of the mind, body, and emotions during everyday life activities. We learn the mindful approach to social research.


Students should have basic philosophical and sociological knowledge and motivation to learn some embodied methods of perceiving the world.

There will also be physical exercises, and students should be prepared to do them.

Meditation, breathing exercises, and hatha-yoga practice.

Report on contemplative walking in the city.
