Rhetoric of Famous Political Speeches

The aim of the course is to analyze and interpret political rhetoric, language and communication strategies of selected world leaders.

A student in the field of knowledge:

- Knows and understands elements of knowledge about international relations and political science as disciplines and sub-disciplines of science and their relations with other disciplines, as well as about their subject and methodological specificity.

- Knows and understands the terminology of social sciences, in the field of political science and international relations, and its applications within related scientific disciplines (legal, economic, historical, philosophical, anthropological, cultural, etc.).

- Knows and understands the issues of ideology and political doctrines in historical terms and their contemporary interpretations.

-Knows the basic concepts and concepts in the field of social communication, intercultural dialogue and intercultural relations.

in the field of skills:

- Is able to correctly interpret political, social and economic phenomena, knows their causes and assess their effects. In addition, he/she interprets correctly current events and processes occurring internationally.

- Has/she the ability to integrate knowledge in the disciplines of political science with the disciplines necessary to expand knowledge (history, philosophy, law, cultural anthropology, etc.).

- Is able to communicate in English using various communication channels and techniques at the scientific, popular science and popular level (at the B2 + level of the European System for the Description of Language Education), with specialists in the field of political, socio-anthropological and historical sciences.

- Is able to critically (oppositionally) analyze and interpret media messages (thanks to regular monitoring and comparative analysis of selected messages).

- He/She can communicate with the environment, including people who are not specialists, he can present his views clearly, has rhetorical and eristic skills.

In the field of social competiences:

- Is prepared for creative and responsible performance of research tasks and ventures, constantly deepening knowledge and skills.

- Is ready to behave in a professional and ethical manner in the scope of his/her tasks.

- Is ready to actively and constantly participate in social, political and cultural life, gain knowledge about current events, using various sources of information.

- Is ready to be interested in various global and local political and social phenomena, trying to identify them and adopt a critical attitude.
